Legends suggest that Viman, in the incarnation of Lord Vishnu, defeated Bali and pushed him to "Patala Lok", so it is believed that King Bali is traveling the earth on this day. This festival is celebrated in many parts of the country as "Vishwakarma Day", where people worship their tools and instruments.

Govardhan Puda Vidhi and Rituals
The Govardhan Puja festival is associated with many rituals and traditions. The worship begins that the devotees make a pile of cow dung in the form of a hill which represents the Govardhan mountain and decorates them with flowers and kumkum. After this, the devotees performed "godown" (round) about them and worshiped the Govardhan Parb and prayed for the protection and happiness of his family. It is celebrated with great dedication in Mathura and Gokul. Thousands of devotees are visited at "Govardhan Parvat", Braj's Pilgrimage Place, where they are "orbiting" the path of eleven around the mountain and offer flowers to many temples located there.Govardhan worship method also emphasizes people to bathe their cows and bulls and worship with engagement and garlands.
Anakuttut, as its name is Sudarsarata, it means the mountain of food. Its preparation is an integral part of the Govardhan festival. On this day, people prepared 56 different types of food items and presented it as "enjoyment" to Lord Krishna. In the preparation of food packages, grains include wheat, rice, green leafy vegetables, and other dishes like gram flour cream. Prior to the offer of "Food Distribution", Lord Krishna's urine took milk and then slept with bright clothes and beautiful jewels. "Chapana Bhog" is then given to Lord Krishna and after that Govardhan posts the stomach, after which "Annakut Prasad" shares the family and friends. The temples of Lord Krishna are decorated throughout the country, and this festival is celebrated with the reading of bhajan, dance and sweet distribution and Govardhan gives best wishes to the family and loved ones.
"Thal" or "Kartan" is another important aspect of the Govardhan Puja ceremony. These devotional songs have been read by the priests and devotees in all temples of Lord Krishna.
